The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

Is there anything new in sociological research? Last couple of years I have been trying to find out new areas of research in the arena of sociology but I have failed to a large extent. My feeling is that most  research in this domain are becoming cliche. Nothing new is emerging , and many are duplicates of each other. Instead of the same ideas being constantly repeated, something new must arrive…

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants...

I trained at three different universities: University of Helsinki, University of Uppsala, and University of Dhaka. I have been serving as a public university teacher since December 1998. I served as a lecturer in sociology at Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh before joining as a faculty in the department of sociology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh in April 2001. I was appointed as a professor of the same department in November 17, 2013. I recently completed my tenure (June 8, 2015 to June 7, 2018) as the head of the department of sociology. I was a member of the Academic Council, Board of Advanced Studies, and IQAC Self-Assessment Committee during my span as head of department. I am also now a member of the Board of Governance of Institute of Modern Languages, SUST.
